Meeting Minutes
 
The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) held a meeting on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown, CT. 
Members Present: Emily Howard, Jennifer Johnston, Rob Kaiser, Donna Mangiafico, Donna Monteleone Randle, Jennifer Rogers, and Linda Watson
Members Absent:  Martin Blanco
Auxiliary Members Present:  None 
Guests:  Barbara Gaines
Jennifer Johnston called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM. 
Minutes:A vote to approve/amend the May 13, 2010 minutes was tabled until the July 8, 2010 meeting. 
Officer Reports:Linda Watson provided an income/expense report for the Flagpole Radio Café (Season 2, Show 6).  She will also provide the NCAC with an updated financial report next week.  Ms. Watson asked members to submit any bills to her ASAP as the books will be closing August 13.  Ms. Watson also reported that she meet Robert Tait in the coming weeks to discuss the NCAC accounts. Jennifer Johnston announced that $5,000 was received from Stratton Faxon and that they will also match gifts to the Flagpole Radio Café up to $10,000 for a total of $15,000. It was also reported that a $500 gift was received from Capesola Cohen. Jennifer Johnston reported that Mark Aldrich is working on a DVD about the preservation of arts history buildings.  He is in the process of raising $7,500 to fund the production. Jennifer Johnston asked NCAC members to prepare a procedure manual/report for future use when coordinating an event/program, managing the website, etc. 
Programs and Events: Donna Monteleone Randle announced that the We?ve Got Talent show has been scheduled for Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Newtown High School.  The start time will be 7:30 PM. Ticket prices were discussed.  It was agreed that a discount would be offered to students and seniors. A separate meeting to discuss the We?ve Got Talent show in greater detail will be scheduled on June 22, 2010 at 1:00 PM at My Place Restaurant.  Donna Monteleone Randle will invite volunteers in key positions and asked members of the NCAC to also invite people who might be interested in helping out at the event and/or the making of props, background scenes, etc. Barbara Gaines announced that the next Flagpole Radio Café would be Saturday, September 25, 2010. 
NCAC Website: The NCAC website was discussed.  Jennifer Johnston reported that Tim McCleary would be assisting the commission with marketing and branding.  There will be a separate meeting to discuss the website in depth on June 24, 2010. Jennifer Johnston asked members of the NCAC to share their ideas on what they would like to have available on the website.  A database of artists, featured artist, and calendar of events were mentioned.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM. 
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010, 7:00 PM at the Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown, CT.
